In Loving Memory
Goats -and dogs- we have loved and lost over the years.

Was friendly, like the hiking, but not the endurance for long trips
 SWEDY -- Alpine -- Born ? (1995) / Sent to new home (1999)
A loyal friend, he hated not be able to pack the last two years we had him
PACO -- Oberhasli/ LaMancha -- Born 1993/Died 2001
1998--polioencephalomyelitis took him out of the pack string.
We keep him a few more years, but he never packed again.
He understood what breaks were for -- lunch time
ORION -- American Oberhasli -- Born 1996/ Died 1999
Accidentally let into the barn with the grain.
extremely friendly, we miss the head rubs
LEVI -- Oberhasli/Lamancha -- Born 1994/Died 1999
Accidentally let into the barn with the grain.
He taught the other how it was done
BUCK -- LaMancha -- Born ? (1991)/ Died March 2001
He was one of the best we ever had.
He had the heart, loved to hike, but never have a chance
ZEUS -- Alpine -- Born March 2000/Died June 2001
Non Regenerative Anemia -- we know he stopped growing at one year and just got weaker and weaker until he just died.
Hey Mom! Need an uphill push?
SPOT -- Alpine/Saanen/LaMancha -- Born ? (1991)/Died October 2001   He was aloof but lovable.
Don't look at me... I'm too new to know anything.
RIGEL -- Alpine/Nubian -- Born ? (1996)/Died May 2002
We don't know how his leg/hip got broken, but it did. We had not other choice on this one but to put him down.
Did it have to rain. I hate a wet pack.
DENALI -- American Eskimo -- Born 1989/ Died 2002
(While the boys had their dominance order, because
of this 15 lb dog we did not have a "trail leader" among
the goats. She fully usurped that position while she lived. She loved the out of doors. May she Rest in Peace.)
So what if I have the same name. I had it first.
STAR -- Alpine -- Born 1994/Died September 2002
Accidental Death at State Fair.
I do NOT have Giraffe Legs
TOPPER -- Alpine -- Born ? (1996)/Died April 2004
We got him as a "rescue" after he had been badly mistreated and malnourished. He proved himself worth the effort of rehabilitating many times over.
A fence jumper..Who me?
CHARLIE -- Toggenburg/Nubian -- Born ? (1993)/Sent to new home Fall 2004
Bow-legged and everything a pack goat should not be, but he didn't know it and performed excellently for us. He started packing as a companion with horses, and we sent him to be a field companion to them again when age just made it so he couldn't keep up anymore.
I wonder if they remembered to latch the gate?
ALTAIR -- Alpine/Nubian -- Born ? (1996)/Died September 2004
The "Half-horn" goat. He rubbed his horn till it broke off. And he keep on working. He was one of the strongest packers we had to date.
Lost to wolves in the Salt River Range of Wyoming.
Rambunctious. I have to be in front.
STAR - LaMancha -- Born 1998/ Died September 2004
In your face LOVABLE. Everyone loved Star. Big for a LaMancha he loved people and they loved him back.
Lost to wolves in the Salt River Range of Wyoming.
Hold still Dad, I want your attention.
CHOCOLATE -- Oberhasli/LaMancha -- Born ? (1993)/Died June 2004
Lovable, friendly and loyal. Never lost his Alpha place in the herd. Worked hard right up to the day he died. Heart failure June 2005, died in his sleep.
What do you mean I belong with the goats?
BUSTER -- Anatolian Shepherd -- Born 2001/Sent to new home  July 2005
People oriented, he was not the livestock guardian we wished him to be. Excellent with small children, we found a home for him where he could protect children rather than "play" with small goats.

HERCULES -- Saanen/Boer/Alpine -- April 14, 2005/November16, 2005
His death was a city accident. I wind storm blew a plastic sack into the pasture. He ate it, and died for it. And he was showing such a wonderful and loving personality too.
Height 23" -- Weight
I'm NOT Mischief's Twin.
GEMINI  -- Alpine -- Born 2001/Sold to another goat packer in 2006
Mischief's look alike, he had the same heart and will to work. He was just too small to for our needs. Sent to new home with Rainier.
Why does every big pick on me?
RAINIER -- Alpine -- Born 2001/Sold to another goat packer in 2006
Willing and able, he was just too small for our use. Send to new home with Gemini. Never 'fit in" with our herd.

FROSTY -- Saanen -- Born? 1999/Died 2007
The only "no horn" goat we've used. He was gentle and loving and a hard worker. Old age and a record had winter fook him from us.

ARIES -- Oberhasli-- Born 1996/Retired 2007
One of the original packers, he worked hard and earned his rest. Wnet to a new home to be a horse companion in the spring of 2007 with Blu. We were notified that he did in 2008.

BLU -- Alpine -- Born?? (1999)/Retired 2007
Steady good worker, retired due to arthritis. Went to a new home to be a horse companion in the spring of 2007 with Aries.
ARCTIC -- Saanen -- Born ? (2001)/Killed 2007
He had heart and wil, was hard working  -- and he is why we hate neighbor dogs. A neighbor's pitbull dug under the fence and harried our goats, nipping and biting at them. Arctic got the worst of it and had one of his ears torn totally off, into the inner ear; also his neck was torn a lot. We had no choice but to put in down. We had him less then a year and have no pictures of him.  :(
I keep going and going and going... Energizer Goat.
TAZ -- Oberhasli -- Born 1996/Died 2008
The last of the origianl string of pack goats, the original "Energizer Goat" he had a bottomless well of endurance; his loss to old age was a very sad day.

CASTOR -- Saanen -- Born 2005/Died 2007
One of two we got as babies, got untreatable intestinal parasites in his second year and didn’t recover.

POLLUX -- Saanen -- Born 2005/Died 2007
One of two we got as babies, got untreatable intestinal parasites in his second year and didn’t recover.
The grass is always greener... What to you mean I can't eat now?
CRATER -- Alpine -- Born 2000/Retired 2008
Good worker, but he was a bully to the point it made him incompatible with our ever increasing herd. He went to new home with a no horned buddy that we got free and didn't want to keep. Both were   donated to a boys’ home in Provo Utah area. He also had fallen pasterns and could only do limited  distance hikes.

RIGEL -- Alpine -- Born 2005//Stolen 2008
Although there was never any proof, we believe he was stolen on the trail. We was steady and a hard worker, was with his herd “alpha” (Clay) on the trail for his first hike. The trail was inundated with “unprepared” and unsupervised teenage boys. 15 minutes later the boys vanished and so did Rigel and all the equipment he was carrying (tents, sleeping bags with pads, clothing, light bulky stuff needed for the cold Uinta nights. Including the saddle and packs.) No trace of him was ever found, despite Clay and all the rangers looking for him until the snow flew.

Houdini -- Born 2001/Died 2008
Good large worker, good personality, acquired in 2006 as an adult rescue with his companion Shorty, we had him for too short a time. Unknown cause of death.
Haanz -- Born ?? (2004)/Died 2010
His cause of death is unknown. He came to us as a companion to Faanz, adult rescue. We only had him a few winter months; he died before we got to leave his abilities. He had a good friendly personality and hopes for him. Had him too short a time for pictures. :(
Who Me? I Didn't do anything. . .
MISCHIEF -- Alpine -- Born 1999/Retired 2010
He lived up to his name in spades; but always good ones. He got his abdominal wall punchured or herniated and was retired in early 2010. When we sold off some of the herd in August he when free with the younger ones to be the "Grandpa" teacher. He was a good steady packer and even after his injury still loved to walk with the rest.
Im not SHORT!!!
SHORTY -- Oberhasli Mix -- Born 2001
SOLD in late August of 2010 to a packer who wanted adult, trained packers, but did not intend to do the weight or distance we require of our boys. Good packer, just I bit small for our needs.
Where did my ears go?
COCO -- Oberhasli/LaMancha -- Born 2004
SOLD in late August of 2010 to a packer who wanted adult, trained packers, but did not intend to do the weight or distance we require of our boys. Good packer, just I bit small for our needs.

SOCKS -- Alpine -- Born 2004
SOLD in late August of 2010 to a packer who wanted adult, trained packers, but did not intend to do the weight or distance we require of our boys. Good packer, just I bit small for our needs.
Flash? No I'm not that fast.
FLASH -- LaMancha -- Born 2005
SOLD in late August of 2010 to a packer who wanted adult, trained packers, but did not intend to do the weight or distance we require of our boys. Good packer, just I bit small for our needs.
Can get shaved for the summer?
TELESTO -- Apline/Toggenburg -- Born 2004
SOLD in late August of 2010 to a packer who wanted adult, trained packers, but did not intend to do the weight or distance we require of our boys. Good packer, just I bit small for our needs.
Will I EVER grow up?
JUPTIER -- LaMancha -- Born 2008/Sold 2010
Just didn't grow. He went with Titan to the neighbor.
I'm a daddy! It wasn't my fault!
TITAN -- LaMancha Mix -- Born 2009/Sold 2010
Fathered a son on the neighbor's Doe at 8 months of age. We finally gave him to the neighbor when the son got bigger than him.

See .. I'm not mythical.
Capricorn -- Alpine/Nubian -- Born 2000/Died 2010
He got a nervous disorder where he couldn’t stand or walk correctly. Treated once but relapsed a month later and we decided to put him down because of his age.
I am NOT a trophy rack. Just magnificent.
GOATEE -- Alpine -- Born 1999/Retired 2010/Died December 2010
The pride and joy of our herd for 9 years we knew he was fading in the spring. He lasted until the winter got too cold for him. This one will be greatly missed for a long time to come. For being the herd dominate he was as mellow and loving as you can ask a goat to be.
Prettier than than Jupiter's moon Io.
IO -- Alpine -- Born 2001/Died 2010
Colorful of coat and a steady packer. The weather got abnormally cold very quickly. He was old but it was unexpected. We just found him in a barn one morning. He will be missed.

WINGMAN -- Alpine -- Born 2006/Died 2010
He was much too young. We got him in the early fall to replace our aging goats. The best guess is he got UC that we didn’t catch fast enough to save him. And he had such excellent potential too.
Do I know you? Get away from MY goats!
CAYENNE -- Anatolian/Great Pyrenees -- Born 2009/2011
Livestock Guardian Dog: She was good at her job; too good for a city environment. She could go over a 6 ft fence with ease and though every cat or dog within a mile was a threat. After a year of dealing with it and not being able to curb the behavior and the dog catcher collecting her we had to let her move on to other, larger pastures.
